Survey Process Changes Under the New CoPs

Now that we are 6 months post the January implementation date of the new home health Conditions of Participation, we are gaining insight into what surveyors are focusing on during site visits.  Whether you’ve been surveyed recently or not, it’s important to make sure your patient admission materials are up-to-date with all state and federal regulatory updates so you’re adequately prepared and avoid citations.

Based on webinars and agency-feedback, we have learned that some key areas of survey focus are receipt of compliant (1) patient rights, (2) plan of care, (3) contact information for agency administrator and clinical manager and (4) discharge process, to name a few.  As you can imagine, these items along with many others have significantly changed patient admission materials.  Already using MedForms?  We released our updates August 2017, so you’ve likely already received our regulatory recommendations when you reordered.  New to MedForms?  We would love to help you update your materials!

While the updates are extensive, it’s important to remember that the objective of the new CoPs is to provide higher quality, integrated patient care.  MedForms would be happy to help you create a custom, compliant patient orientation booklet that consolidates all admission paperwork into a streamlined booklet.  It’s simple to start with us; just contact us here!
